Young, Wild, and Free

Young, Wild, and Free.

Sounds pretty great right?

What's the first thing that pops into your head when you hear this phrase? For me it was maybe the words of a tattoo on a reckless teenage girl who enjoys sneaking out, getting drunk, and sleeping with every guy she meets.

Yikes.

But then I thought about it a little more.

Young.

Wild.

Free.

It's not just a motto for reckless teens to live by. It can be. But it can also mean something completely different. It can mean a life that I strive to live.

Now let me explain....

Young
Matthew 18:3 says this...

"Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

God wants us to be young! Not literally, of course, but he wants us to change. To become like a child.  Children are the most pure beings on the planet... Do you know why? Children are humble, honest, trusting, and innocent. In order to enter in Gods kingdom, you have to have that kind of heart. So as you grow up, don't leave all of childhood behind. Keep a childlike heart as you trust in Jesus.

Be Young.

Wild
Here's the one I'm sure you've been questioning me about... "Hannah... Wild?! Really!? How can being wild do any good?!"

Well hear me out, I promise I'm not crazy.

The definition of wild is this:
Uncontrolled or Unrestrained

The world has this perfect picture of what life should be like. What you should say. What you should wear. Who you should talk to. The world has a "perfect answer" to all of those questions and it tends to push everyone to go with that answer. Here's the problem... The ways of the world and the ways of our Heavenly Father don't exactly mesh.

1 John 2:15-17 says this...

"Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world, the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does, comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and it's desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever."

Don't be controlled by the world or restrained by what society pictures as the perfect person. Forget what the world has to offer and look at what Jesus has already given you! He has given you eternal life, and a love more abundant than anyone can imagine!

So go against the world! Stand up for what you believe in!

Be Different.

Be Uncontrolled.

Be Unrestrained.

Be Wild.

Free
I believe that this last one is the most important and I'm sure you already know why...

You, my friend, have been set free from sin!

How great is our God that he would send his one and only son to hang on that tree in order to grant us this amazing freedom!

Our chains our broken! We have been set free!

Romans 6:22-23 says...

"But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Be Free.

I want to be young. I want to be wild. I want to be free.

So lets start today, living Young, Wild and Free for Jesus!
