Jeremiah 29:11

If anyone was to ask me what my favorite Bible verse is I would undoubtedly say that it's Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. I have that verse engraved on a necklace, a bracelet, and I even have it written on a chalk board in my bedroom. It's definitely my favorite.

My future is very unclear to me. Unlike all of my friends, I don't have a boyfriend. All of my friends are in very serious long-term relationships (I'm the designated 7th wheel and proud!). If you were to ask any of them if you could see marriage in their future I believe they would most likely say yes (as of now anyways). I don't have that security. I never have. I have absolutely no idea who I'll marry or when I'll even meet this mystery guy of my dreams. Another thing a lot of my friends have in common that I seem to be lacking is a plan. We are Seniors this year which means we need to start thinking about our future careers. I've heard my friends talking about going to school to become a Speech Pathologist, a Dental Hygienist, or a Dietitian, and of course they aren't positive that this is what they want to do but at least they have some sort of an idea. I do not. I have not a single clue as to what I want to be when I grow up. Luckily I've finally decided where I'm going to attend college but other than that, my future is quite the mystery. That's where God comes in.

I could be freaking out right now. I could be absolutely terrified at the fact that I have no idea where life is going to take me, but I'm not. God has a plan and a purpose for your life. He knows exactly what's going to happen and when it's going to happen. In Jeremiah 29:11 he promises that his plans for you are great! God knows every single part of you. He knows exactly what your thinking 24/7. He even knows things about you that you have yet to find out about yourself! He has planned your future perfectly to suit you. If that's not reassuring I don't know what else is!

So stop being afraid of the future! Don't spend your time worrying about what God isn't ready to show you yet! God's timing is perfect. He will reveal to you your future on His own perfect timing. Worrying about your future isn't going to make you happy. Do you know what will make you happy? Living life one day at a time! Focus on today! Instead of worrying about what the future holds step back and thank God for today! Open your eyes and look at all of the great things God is doing for you right now! Living with this mindset will not only take a load of stress off your shoulders, but it will cause you to be genuinely happier and more thankful for the little things in life! God has a perfect plan for your life, so stop worrying about your future and start living life one day at a time!
