Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

It’s very easy to get comfortable in where you’re at in your walk with Christ. In fact once you are in that comfortable daily routine as a Christian, it’s hard to want to break free, and sometimes we see no need to do anything differently. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s totally awesome that you read your bible every day and that you pray every night before bed, but once that becomes a routine that you feel safe and comfortable doing your faith isn't growing any stronger than it was yesterday, or last week, or even a year ago. If all you are doing is the exact same thing that you have been doing since you first accepted Christ into your life, you are still like a child in your walk with God. Just like a child is constantly exploring new things and learning and growing through experiences, you must reach out and do something new in order to grow your faith.

I’m not saying go out right now and start preaching to random people you see on the street. That would be terrifying, especially if you have never really talked about Christ to anyone. Take baby steps! You can start out by doing something simple that you wouldn’t usually do like maybe sharing a bible verse on Twitter or even performing small gestures like opening a door for someone or just saying a simple “Hello” to someone you usually wouldn’t speak to. Small actions like this do not go unnoticed! People are able to see the love in your heart put there by God himself. Once you get comfortable with that, step it up a little bit more. Get more involved with your church, or maybe reach out to people in your community that need Gods love in their lives.

By doing all of these things you are slowly but surely digging your roots in Christ a little bit deeper, and your faith is growing a little bit stronger each time. You may make a few mistakes along the way, but you will learn from those experiences and grow in your relationship with God. Everyone has a different comfort zone and right now you may not know exactly what you should do next. The simple solution? PRAY! Just ask God what he wants you to do and he will give you the answer! So step out of your comfort zone, do something that terrifies you for the one who literally DIED for you. I realize that doing something you aren't comfortable with can be very scary but I can promise you that God will be there with you every step of the way providing openings for you to share your faith and giving you the words to say.

The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? Psalm 118:6
